CGA Constructs Red Sea Global Landscape Nursery

The landscape nursery built by Red Sea Global (hereinafter referred to as RSG)  covers more than 100 hectares. The nursery has currently planted 5 million plants from local and international sources, and by 2030 the number will reach 30 million. These plants will help protect and restore the region’s ecosystem and significantly improve RSG’s landscapes.

China Green Agriculture (CGA) is the only Chinese supplier in RSG’s modern agriculture and tourism sector. Its construction scope includes intelligent greenhouses, planting systems, tissue culture facilities, and modern storage warehouses.

From planning and design, supporting facilities, main construction, project inspection to final delivery, the project lasted nearly 570 days. The CGA project team overcame challenges of sandstorms, high temperatures, and water scarcity, achieving zero accidents, zero risks, and high-quality delivery. With firm commitment in three aspects, CGA delivered a “Chinese answer” that exceeded SBC construction standards, and at the same time overcame harsh natural conditions, drawing a blueprint for the “Belt and Road.”

Steel Frame: The External Structure Against Sand and Heat

Under conditions of high temperature and frequent sandstorms, the primary concern was how to resist severe natural challenges. CGA therefore built a strong “skeletal system.”

Solid foundation works: The coastal desert geology along the Red Sea is loose and highly saline-alkaline. To ensure the stability of tens of thousands of square meters of structures, the project adopted independent foundations coated with epoxy coal asphalt, combined with dynamic compaction and soil replacement, to guarantee bearing capacity and lay a solid foundation for construction.

High-strength steel framework:All load-bearing steel structures used special high-strength, corrosion-resistant Q235 steel, with strength, toughness, and galvanized coating thickness far exceeding ordinary steel, creating a durable and resilient framework.

Composite sunlight panel system: The sunlight panel system plays a key role in the building envelope. It adopts a double-layer hollow structure with light transmittance ≥85% and blocks 90% of UV rays. The panels have UV coating to reduce dust adhesion, effectively lowering maintenance costs.

The Lifeline: Temperature and Humidity Control System

Inside the framework, the key was how to create a “living space” suitable for plant growth. This was the most critical task of the project and the area where CGA engineers applied their expertise.

Exclusive mist-spray system (developed by CGA):CGA independently developed a patented mist-spray system. Under high pressure, water forms spiral atomization, overcoming the limitation of traditional one-direction spraying. It produces fine mist, saving water while covering a larger area. Tests showed that in hot seasons, 20 minutes of spraying can reduce temperature by 6–8°C. The mist sprays directly onto crop leaves, helping them absorb nutrients and water, and promoting strong growth.

Efficient cooling system: In the intelligent greenhouse, fans, wet curtains, and circulation fans form a strong negative-pressure cooling effect, lowering the indoor temperature by more than 20°C in a short time, allowing seedlings to grow in suitable conditions.

Environmental sensor network system: Temperature and humidity sensors were not placed randomly, but according to crop zones, height, and airflow features, building a real-time “environmental data field” inside the greenhouse, providing precise data to regulate the indoor climate.

Solid Defense: Dual Safeguards of Quality and Safety

Bilateral quality inspection, setting a benchmark beyond standards: Quality inspection was never a mere formality. CGA set up inspection teams with leaders responsible for group quality control. During construction, design drawings were repeatedly reviewed and frequent self-checks were carried out on site, ensuring every screw and every pillar was correct.

During RSG’s official quality inspections, items such as water pressure, flow rate, voltage, current, concrete strength, steel strength, and cooling controls were all tested. All CGA project parts passed at once. The results not only met Saudi SBC standards but also exceeded them in many areas. This meticulous attention to detail laid the foundation for long-term stable operation of the project.

Zero-accident guarantee, excellence in details: On the unfamiliar and harsh Red Sea coast, “zero accidents” was no coincidence. Safety was a shared value of CGA and RSG. CGA advanced safety management, regularly carrying out safety training and drills for all workers.

Safety training covered five preventive measures (fall prevention, protection from falling objects, electrical leakage prevention, heat prevention, and fire prevention), as well as heavy equipment operation standards and safety drills, making safety awareness each worker’s “first instinct.”

This sustained effort created 570 days of safe production with no accidents, earning high recognition from RSG and the award of a “Safety Production Commendation Order.” This was the best recognition from international partners of the safety management capability of Chinese enterprises.

Overcoming difficulties and challenges and delivering a perfect result was the achievement of an international cooperative project team, and also the young and energetic CGA Red Sea Landscape Nursery management team.
